nomi privacy policy
Last updated: 10 October 2026
nomi is a personal assistant that runs on your own devices. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and its developer runs no servers that your data goes to. The developer never sees your conversations, memory or any other data in the app.
Where your data stays
- On this device. Your chats, lists, settings and what your assistant remembers are stored on this device, protected by iOS data protection and, if you turn it on, Face ID.
- On your own Mac. If you connect nomi on your Mac, this device talks to it over a connection you set up yourself. Requests are encrypted end to end between this device and your Mac. Your Mac does the work that needs your mail, calendar, money and documents, and keeps its own memory of you.
- In your private iCloud, if you allow it. When iCloud backup is on (Settings), your memory and conversations are encrypted on this device with a key kept in your iCloud Keychain before they go to your private iCloud database, so your other devices can stay in step. Apple stores only encrypted data it cannot read. Turn it off in Settings at any time.
What the app reads, and why
Each of these is asked for only when you use the feature, and you can turn it off in the iOS Settings app at any time.
- Calendar and Reminders: to tell you what's next, plan your day and add reminders.
- Health: sleep, steps, workouts and other measures for your questions and a daily check-in. With your Mac connected, each day's numbers (and up to two years of history the first time) are copied to your own Mac, so charts, your brief and research there can use them; they never go into web searches or anywhere else. When you tell your assistant a number Health tracks (your weight, a workout), it saves it in Health, marked as from nomi, after asking you once for permission. Health data is not used for advertising or sold.
- Home: to turn lights on and off and run scenes. Unlocking a door always asks you first.
- Contacts: so your assistant knows who you mean. With your Mac connected, a copy of names, companies, email addresses, phone numbers, birthdays, anniversaries and relationships is kept on your own Mac, encrypted, and kept in step when your address book changes. Notes and photos are never copied.
- Photos: to read receipts and documents in photos you choose, on this device.
- Location (while using the app): for local weather and travel times.
- Microphone and speech recognition: to talk to your assistant. Speech is turned into text on this device and isn't recorded. A voice note or meeting you choose to record is sent only to your own Mac, where it is transcribed; nothing goes to Apple or anyone else. Ask everyone in a meeting before you record it.
- Camera: only to scan the code your Mac shows when you connect this device.
- Apple Music: to play music you ask for.
Services the app uses
- Apple: Apple Weather (an approximate location), Apple Maps (travel times), Apple Music, the Apple Podcasts directory (podcast searches), Siri, and Apple's push service (a push from your Mac says only that something needs your attention; the details are encrypted for this device). Apple's privacy policy applies: apple.com/privacy.
- Hugging Face: when you download a model to run on this device, it comes from huggingface.co, which sees the request like any download. Nothing you type is sent there. The model runs entirely on this device.
- Podcast hosts: podcast episodes and feeds come from the servers of the podcasts you choose.
Google account data
When you connect a Google account, nomi reads your Gmail and Google Calendar to answer your questions, sort your inbox, draft and send mail you approve, and keep your calendar. That data is processed on your own Mac and stays there: it is not sent to the developer, sold, shared with third parties, or used to train AI models or for advertising. nomi's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can disconnect at any time in nomi or at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Children
nomi is not directed at children under 13.
Deleting your data
Settings → Privacy → Start over erases this device's chats, lists and settings. Deleting the app removes everything stored on this device. Turning off iCloud backup and deleting nomi's data under iOS Settings → your name → iCloud removes the iCloud copy. Data on your Mac is under your control there.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be in the app and on this page, with a new date.
